going 100 steps backwards
This got me so so heated, and I had to share.
Despite common belief, most rapes do not result in bruises and broken bones. The term “forcible rape” is redundant. Rape, by definition, is forced sexual intercourse. The term “forcible rape” implies that force can only be defined by physical signs. Rape is an act of sexual violence that actually comes in different forms, including coercion, manipulation, intimidation, threats, and physical force. This bill puts women in a position of proving that their rape “deserves” to have an abortion. Talk about re-traumatizing a survivor of rape. The consequences of this bill are detrimental, and it saddens me to think how far back this bill would take us. I believe that women have freedom of choice over decisions regarding their body. Hi,
I just heard about a horrible GOP bill that could redefine rape and
set women’s rights back by decades.
Here’s the deal: Right now, federal dollars can’t be used for abortion
except in cases of rape, incest, or when the woman’s life is in danger.
But the bill, introduced by Republican congressman Chris Smith, would
narrow that use to “cases of ‘forcible’ rape but not statutory or coerced
rape.”
As far too many women know, bruises and broken bones do not define rape -
a lack of consent does. This bill is scary - so I signed a petition
telling Congress to stand up and oppose the bill. Can you join me at the

what’s with weddings that really brings out the beast in parents? it seems like weddings are like a secret key that unlocks the pandora’s box of the most random and imposing set of opinions from parents. take my dad for instance who is normally cool as a cucumber and is fairly indifferent to any sort of aesthetic details. when we discussed my wedding ideas over the dinner table, the conversation elicited a set of the most random demands. for example, he said no to cupcakes. you have to have a cake. you have to slice the cake in front of people so that each slice of cake can be served to each guest. he balked at the wedding dress i had in mind. actually, i think his exact words were, “are you going clubbing or something?” mind you, my dad hasn’t stepped foot in a club in 40 years. actually based on the stories he’s told me about his wild and crazy days as a college student, i question if he’s ever stepped foot in a club at all. oh, and he definitely has some words to say about the menu as well. anyways, for a guy who told me that he has no opinions at all about the wedding, he certainly has a lot of opinions.

*sigh* sick of abercrombie. they’re still popular?!
abercrombie’s same old discrimination and exclusionary bullshit. i wasn’t aware that they had taken it to such a matter-of-fact level with their style guides for each ethnicity, but i’m not surprised. one look at Mike Jeffries, their ceo, and i realize that he not only exploits the pursuit of white youthful perfection, he buys into it himself:
…for a look at the article and his creepy ass face.
